Geriatrics is one of the core areas at Hubertus Hospital which is part to the PGD International network of hospitals in Berlin. The focus is put on the treatment of elderly and very old patients in all stages of a disease, from acute medical treatment to rehabilitation through to preparation for release and aftercare. Annually 1,300 patients with surgical-orthopedic, neurological and internal diseases are treated and rehabilitated at Hubertus Hospital.
The aim is to restore the ability of the patient after a time of deterioration in his health to enable him to the greatest possible independence and self-determination. The specially in geriatrics educated team of trained doctors and nurses from various disciplines, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists, neuropsychologists, nutritionists tend to the entire functional, intellectual, psychological and social aspects of the patient.
An early holistic geriatric rehabilitative treatment with - compared to an acute treatment - significantly longer treatment time of 20 days or more provides comprehensive diagnosis, treatment and therapy. The usually severely affected multimorbid patient receives a comprehensive therapy which is adapted to his individual circumstances. In the course of the therapy the patient will not go without state-of-the-art diagnostics as well as intensive care medical intervention.
If multimorbidity is the cause and not the treatment of a specific medical problem, acceptance in the geriatric ward makes sense. With an admission to the geriatric day hospital complex geriatric problems can be treated, which can not be sufficiently treated on an outpatient basis. So unnecessary inpatient hospitalizations can be prevented.
Besides its geriatric competence Hubertus Hospital already offers additional offers for senior citizen as assisted living and the nursing home Hubertus. The already existing range is to be expanded and made more attractive by an intense networking with other providers.
