Paediatric and Adolescent Orthopaedics treatment in Germany

We would like to introduce you to the Department of  Orthopaedics for Children and Adolescents in the Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery in the Evangelischen Waldkrankenhaus. Whether dealing with club foot, skew foot or flat foot, bone fractures or torticollis or scoliosis – our medical and nursing team covers a broad orthopaedic range and is geared towards an integrated treatment of children and adolescents.

Conservative treatments 

• Club foot treatment according to the Ponseti method, including complex club feet
• Hollow foot, skew foot, flat foot und and drop foot
• Botulinum toxin injections with spastic illnesses (ICP) and drop feet
• Perthes’ disease (botulinum injection, inpatient physiotherapy)
• Scoliosis treatment – corset fitting (manufactured by Zapfe in-house)
• Paediatric rheumatology in co-operation with our Department of Paediatric and Adolescent Medicine
• Fractures
• Congenital malformations of the upper and lower extremities 

Operative treatments

• Club foot corrections and follow-up correction of undercorrected and overcorrected club feet in older children and adults
• Toe lengthening (metatarsals)
• Foot corrections of severe deformities (HSMN) as well as with skew foot, flat foot, drop foot or hollow foot
• Drop foot treatment by means of direct or indirect Achilles tendon lengthening
• Axial corrections of the lower extremities with modern implants
• Patella-stabilising measures: lateral release, medical tightening, operation according to Insall or Goldwaith, MPFL reconstruction
• Treatment of osteochondritis dissecans by drilling, reconstruction of the spongiosa or modern cartilage transplantation
• Reconstructions of deformed or shortened limbs – also multi-dimensional corrections as well as extensions
• Hip reconstructions according to Salter and surgical hip dislocation
• Transposition osteotomies due to Perthes’ disease, dysplasia of the hip and ECF as well as treatment with fixator extending beyond the hip
• Emergency treatment of epiphysiolysis of the head of the femur (ECF)
• Tendon lengthening due to neuro-orthopaedic diseases (ICP)
• Shoulder stabilisations (open or arthroscopic)
• Transposition osteotomies following malpositions in the region of the elbow
• Polydactyly/constricting skin creases (co-operation with plastic surgeons)
