The Radiology Clinics and Nuclear Medicine Clinic operated by Paul Gerhardt Diakonie offer the entire spectrum of radiological examination procedures from high-resolution imaging to minimally invasive image-guided operations and therapeutic techniques that can also be performed on an outpatient basis.

Radiology services

Multidetector computed tomography (MDCT)

• Non-invasive imaging of blood vessels using multidetector CT (all areas of body) including multi-dimensional reconstructions for diagnostic and therapeutic purposes   
• CT-guided minimally invasive interventions to obtain body tissue (biopsy), insert drainages and for tumor ablation (radiofrequency ablation), pain therapy and vertebroplasty
• Virtual endoscopy (e.g. virtual colonography, bronchoscopy)
• Dental CT

Sonography

• Sonographic diagnostics of all potential conditions in the thoracic and abdominal areas and in the extremities and soft tissues
• Color-coded doppler sonography of arteries and veins with flow measurement and evaluation 
• Sonography-guided puncture for biopsy or drainage insertion

Digital subtraction angiography (DSA) / Interventions

• Minimally invasive diagnostics and therapy including recanalisation of stenoses and occlusions by means of balloon dilatation or stent implantation and for lysis in case of vascular diseases 
• Chemoembolization for local tumor therapy in case of liver tumors
• Minimally invasive location of bleeding sites and therapy with particles or coils
• Minimally invasive treatment of uterine fibroids (fibroid embolization); interdisciplinary treatment in collaboration with Gynecology Clinic (head consultant Prof. Dr. U. Ulrich)

Magnetic resonance tomography (imaging)

Conventional radiology

• Radiological imaging using standardized projection images and special fluoroscopic techniques for all areas of the body: skeleton, head and thorax, chest, abdomen (gastrointestinal examinations, double contrast examinations and examination of the small intestine using the Sellink method), as well as kidneys, gall bladder and bile ducts
• Expertise and quality control ensure that examinations are performed with minimal exposure to radiation.

Mammography

• Whole spectrum of mammography, breast sonography and biopsy

RIS/PACS

• Digital production and storage of images, patient data and corresponding test results
• Standardized working environment and efficient diagnostic and therapeutic processes with full range of image post-processing methods 

Nuclear medicine
